Liesbeth Rutten

About Liesbeth

Liesbeth depicts the stirrings of the emotional life of humankind in bronze. She works this theme in 3 categories. In the single sculptures she depicts austere women in a dynamic pose. They are passers-by in time who go through life as a searching pilgrim or as a conceited catwalker.

In contrast, she depicts the stylistic double sculptures, which stand in a loving relationship to each other, in a static pose.

In the abstract bronzes she likes to play with structures of symbolic images which she finds in nature and which always trace back to her inner perception.

She finishes all sculptures herself; grinding, smoothing, polishing, patina, shining up and pasting into stone.

In her pottery collection (matter of “mother earth”) she creates unusual pots, vases, bowls, double sculptures, often on a monumental scale. In contrast she creates very fragile useable pottery which is wafer-thin and hand crafted. These are uniquely decorated, meditative pieces of work.
